Rules

  • Competition will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11 AM

  • 1 standard bottles per entry (1 entry = one 12 oz bottle).

  • Entry label must be printed and attached to each of the bottles. Hand written if absolutely necessary but must have the same fields as printed label.

  • Entry must arrive prior to the shipping/drop off date (by the start of the competition - 11 AM)

  • No more than 3 entries per brewer/household and 1 entry per category

Limoncello Category Guidelines:

  • Category 1 – Traditional Limoncello The original, including only lemon zest (any variety), clear clean alcohol (typically grain derived), and simple syrup (water/sugar). Nothing more, nothing less. Any other fruits, spices, or stronger-flavored alcohols/sugars should be entered into other categories.
  • Category 2 – Other Traditional Fruit Cello Use of other fruits/zest with clear alcohol and simple syrup. Examples include blood orange (Arancello), grapefruit (Pompelmocello), tangerine/mandarin (Mandarinello), strawberries (Frageocello), or cherry (Cigiegiolo). This category also includes limoncello as a base with the other fruits added.
  • Category 3 – Open Category Any spices, non-traditional fruits, other spirits, and other sugars that will provide a strong flavor to the cello should be entered here.

Entry Guidlines:

Each entry will consist of capped/corked bottles or cans that are void of all identifying information, including labels. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely if they have markings on them. The use of commercial embossed bottles is allowed but is requested to be kept to a minimum. If commercial embossed bottles are used it should be no larger than 1 square inch.

12oz brown glass bottles are preferred as we want to ensure the best possible showing of your entry during every possible flight (flight, mini BOS, BOS). A minimum of 12 oz are required per entry. If smaller bottles are used, provide multiple bottles. Green/clear glass or cans will be accepted. Swing top bottles will likewise be accepted as well as corked bottles. Entries will not be returned to participants.

All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers.

-      no marijuana, marijuana synthetics, or “other” illegal substances

All requisite paperwork must be submitted with each entry and can be printed directly from this website. Entry paperwork shall be attached to bottles by the method specified on the bottle label.

Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry.
